Painting from nature I aim to capture moments that have moved me in some way. Sometimes it is the aesthetics that attract me (McQueen) other times it is the idea (Mother Nature).
I love painting skies, water and portraits; I find them challenging and ever-changing.
Recent work:-
I have just finished a 60x40" family portrait commission which you can now see slideshow opposite and in the Gallery section under 'Portraits'.
I am now working from plein air sketch paintings, photographs and memory to complete my next painting. Partly inspired by a recent exhibition at the Tate Britain 'Art and the Sublime' and partly by a recent trip to Devon, I aim to capture the vastness of the sky - how it can sometimes feel looming and overwhelming - with a twist!
